Growth is stunted, and the plants have a stiff upright appearance. Leaves and petioles can become brittle.
Starting from the inner leaves, the foliage of the entire plant including the veins turns chlorotic yellow.

Early symptoms of S deficiency may be confused with those of N deficiency. In both cases, leaves fade gradually from green to a light yellow-green. Later on, the heart leaves of S deficient plants become light green to almost yellow in contrast to the deep green with N deficiency.

Sugar Beet: 5 l/ha at 4-6 leaf stage. For moderate to severe deficiency, repeat at 10-14 day intervals. Water rate: 200 l/ha.
